Title IDs - General

Sony PlayStation title-ids are not entirely random. For the most part, they use a logical system. A system I will try to explain on these pages. It is important to note though, that most of the information on these pages is not sourced officially, but inferred from all the data that we have and know. It is also important to know that Sony seems to like exceptions and almost any 'rule' stated within these pages is bound to have an exception somewhere out there.

A Title-ID

From day 1, title-ids use the same format: 4 letters, a dash and then 5 digits. From the very first PS1 game all the way to the latest PS5 games. What the letters (and, to a certain extent, digits) mean though, has changed a bit over the years. Furthermore, the meaning and classification also differs between regional Sony offices.
